You have distorted view of liberty. Its freedom from coercion and force that is the goal... whether or not that gained can be attained is wholly irrelevant. Its what we should aspire to.
Not surprising though. Socialism is necessarily anti freedom.
This will go nowhere though. You say i'm brainwashed into thinking freedom matters, I say you are a new age slave blah, blah, blah. Lets just agree to disagree.
I couldn't imagine a better slave than one that was convinced freedom isn't real.

You have a distorted view of the world and its' history. Capitalism has never worked and will never work without socialistic inputs and vice versa. Keep spewing your ignorance about "freedom" like economic freedom has ever helped any economy without some restrictions to level the playing field. No country, as proven by the world we live in today, want to "aspire" to economic freedom, they want to enhance the national economy by enforcing standards that benefits the common good.
and that cac fakkit friedman contradicts himself as usual. Check late 1800's in America, early 1900's in Britain and other western nations as proof of capitalism allowing corporations to use economic freedom to promote their own interests. Bu-bu-but they were primitive back then, they know better now. Yea, the depression and 08 catastrophe proves their progression

Way to take something broad like freedom(as I used it) and narrow it down to economic freedom.
But that doesn't matter. Economics are arguably the most important.
What matters is how you guys think we shouldn't seek to achieve something simply cause it has never existed, or that we should aspire to have a society -as free as possible-, because you cant envision it.

How do you work with your mind when you work slave hours at slave wages, worry about food on your table, worry about ridiculous hospital bills, school debt, credit card debt, mortgage payments, car payments, inflation, gas prices, etc? Now some of this is natural but alot of it is designed by the 1% to keep you busy and on their treadmill so you never question it. Like I said, you don't choose who you are the moment you are born in America and if you're born to a family outside the 1%, expect to be a debt slave. Socialism in certain economic sectors helps to curve those worries and allows the average man more time to think and be creative.
I know it isn't by design of the 1%, that's how.... It's the ignorance of the people that has got us here, and the idea that legislation can undo or curb the evils of society that cause these conditions. When you promote socialism -in America- you are giving more power to the 1%.
You think you are hurting them but you're not.
You are hurting the very people you seek to help. The rich will raise prices, cut hours and manpower, and still be rich, the poor will get poorer... then what? Place caps? Then the rich outsource, and more jobs are gone, and the poor are worse off.
Its insane.
Our freedom and the ability to make a fortune from literally nothing is(was) why america is the envy of the world. The more we copy other nations the further we slide...

The goal is to(should be) make it so anyone who works hard can live comfortably and attain wealth.
That sounds good and all but it's not going to happen. Tell me how we get money out of politics? I don't see publically funded elections, congressional term limits, and pork spending ending anytime soon...

It can still be the goal in the long term but we need socialism in certain sectors to act as a bridge until then. You are informed to some degree but most people in this country are not. It is the main reason things like education, healthcare, etc need to be socialized until people can come to their damn senses about how things work or else they will continue to be exploited.
