One thing my younger brother always said about anime before he got into it was that the characters look like they have snouts.
The nose and chin make a rectangle, without a dent under the nose, just going straight down.
This was a complaint, but he seems to have gotten over it

The origin is Astro, which Osamu tekuza used mickey as reference, same face plan, same big eyes
The nose is that of a cartoon mouse, not cats

Well father of the manga Osamu Tezuka was a furry after all.
Also he was heavily inspired by early Disney movies.
