Its not just classic, its THE hood movie when it comes to France. No other in the genre has topped this one far as I'm concerned.

I can't believe I haven't watched it yet. I've been hearing nothing but good things about it. I'll peep it this Sunday.

the scene when dude locks himself in his room and starts smoking while DJ Cut Killer's doing his thing...mixing KRS/Biggie and Edith Piaf = iconic french hood scene

scratch that, it's an iconic hip hop moment in movies.

another good french hood movie was "Ma 6-T Va Cracker"

Yeah definitely. Ma 6 T Va Cracker was dope too. I was actually living in Paris at the time it came out. I lived out there from 97 to 99.

Daaaaamn. That's the 1st rap album I ever copped and the album that got me into hip hop music. I arrived in Paris in 97 when I was 12 years old. Before that I didn't really listen to music much, it was in Paris that I got into hip hop music, they have a great scene over there.

And yeah, 97 to 99 was a great time in the French rap scene, lots and lots of classics. U from Canada or France or what?

I'm from Canada (montreal). and it was also one of my first hip hop albums (had it on tape). i actually bought that album 3 times over the years. tape got screwed up cause i played it so much. then later i bought the CD and lent it to someone dude (never got it back but dude told me straight up to keep what he lent me in exchange, i got punked on that one, lol) and i bought it a third time.

Yeah I had it on CD. I think I still got the original CD I copped lying around somewhere. I think I copped it 2ice altogether but kept both copies.

I also had a t shirt with the art work for the album cover. I loved that t shirt, used to wear it everywhere.

But I think those 2 or 3 years were definitely some of the best, so much good sh!t and classic sh!t was out, it was crazy.

Also I love a lot of French producers and DJs, there is much talent out here, a lot of the beats are so grimey and polished at the same time, they can definitely get down out there when it comes to that.

The music that I was bumping in those years has a special place in my heart.
