I think a referral-only system would be nice. Somethin like every poster gets one lifetime referal for another colimemember. And the poster would only get referral privlegdes if they had a greater than 1000 rep, had donated in the past, and had a good dap-to-post ratio. Furhtermore , if the new poster gets banned within 6mos, the poster who referred the banned poster would also be banned. This would kinda ensure quality cause such posters would be too invested in the site to give their referral to a random person.
If the floodgates were open to anyone during open registration , then all sorts of weirdos and racist trolls would be the first new memebers and they'd bring the quality down.
