There's nothing at all wrong with Hall and Oates. If you want some real weird shyt though, check out the Daryl Hall solo album produced by Robert Fripp. It's the strangest pop album ever.

As for guilty pleasures, I have none - I'm proud to listen to all of the shyt I like. I've been getting into the Smashing Pumpkins by getting all of the remastered sets and I've gotta say that they're one of the best 90's bands around, even if it's considered embarrassing to like them these days. Siamese Dream and Pisces Iscariot are
