Nearly half of the dead are members of the Revolutionary Guards, according to state news agencies, making this one of the worst attacks ever on the elite force.

Word is that the gunman are Arabs possibly even Sunni Arabs. If that is the case there could potentially be reason to believe the GCC are behind this.

God may have frowned on their genocide of Muslims in Iraq and Syria.
Iranians are Muslims too just in case you forgotten. Who did Iran genocide in Iraq and Syria? Iran was fighting ISIS as well in Iraq. ISIS was a threat to Iran so they backed up their proxies there. In Syria they sided with the Assad regime to fight Sunni Arab rebels. Last I check there is still Sunni Arabs in both nations. What the Serbs did to the Bosnians is genocide. Using brute force to defeat an opponent is not genocide. By your logic Saudi Arabia is committing genocide in Yemen as well. I do not like Saudi Arabia but even I know they are not enacting genocide in Yemen. In all its a proxy war between Saudi Arabia and Iran over dominance of the Mideast.

I think sometimes liberals defend Iran too much. You know Iranians and their proxy Hezbollah aren't in Syria to fight ISIS, there are there to support that genocidal dictator Assad.

And what Saudi Arabia and UAE doing in Yemen might not be considered genocide but they are definitely committing war crimes there.

Guess we’re just going to gloss over all the innocent Sunnis that were killed and their cities wiped off the map in Syria an Iraq by Shia death squads, chemical weapons used by Assad, and indiscriminate bombing by Assad and Russia. A group still existing is your bar for whether or not a genocide occurred? I’m sure you misspoke there. I can do without the whataboutism as well.

What the Serbs did to the Bosnians is genocide.

Your overall argument is perfectly valid even without this false example. There were other more clear cut cases throughout history...
Bosnian Muslims (Bosniaks) killed a total of 3000 Bosnian Serbs in the villages around Srebrenica in various massacres (Kravice, Bratunac,... ) during the span of 3 years from 1992 until 1995. Then in 1995 Bosnian Serbs killed 8000 Bosniaks in Srebrenica.

Imagine as if during the WW2 Jews had killed a million of Germans...

if the gunmen are sunni arabs this is going to be an utter shytshow.

eh genocide has a couple of different definitions. it can range from the total (possibly just attempted) destruction of an ethnic group of people to just the killing of a large number of people for ethnic reasons. in syria the regime killed many many innocent sunni civilians and their sect was the biggest factor in this, so with the second definition you could call it a genocide. i think the same is true of saudi policy towards the shi'a in yemen. it just all depends on your definition.

there can be genocide efforts by both groups against one another at the same time. the historical consensus is that croats bosniaks and serbs committed war crimes throughout the 90s but srebrenica is an especially horrific act of genocide

Very few Sunni Arabs in Iran. The vast majority of Sunnis are Balochis and Kurds. The Ahwazis are mostly Shia. Its possible the attackers were non Arab sunnis ( I think the last parliament attack that ISIS claimed were Kurds)

The Ahwazi group abroad claimed it, but so did ISIS so who knows. I doubt we'll ever get a clear story.
