:mjlol:

Kendrick raps from a "project window" perspective and has a few lines here and there no one believes or that are not meant to be taken seriously or in the context of a concept track

Gunna raps from the perspective of a rags to riches gangster

Eh.....it's a huge difference between a "couple" like Kendrick, whom tbh if we keepin' it real hasn't really been on that in a longggg time, and the amount of times per song that Gunna does it. Not to mention, end of the day, the context is different. Kendrick isn't under fire for not "staying solid", or gettin' too close to (or crossing depending on who you talk to) the line of runnin' his mouth. Now me personally, I don't really care. It is what it is. But I'm also not gonna act like breh is some sort of innocent and was out here pumpin' out To Pimp A Butterfly or Mr Morale & The Big Steppers type content.

I'm curious as to what you would label Gunna if not a street rapper?

Just off the intro alone of his last CD (which is my shyt):

And it's the above type shyt in at least 1 verse per song throughout the CD so what is he? Whatever Durk is, I put him in like a couple of notches below. Them niccas sing and make it sound good, but they still talkin that shyt at the end of the day. Gunna just don't be mentioning names or referencing real-life situations at the end of the day (which is smart).
Imagine a nikka who finna slide on an Opp saying "ay put on that gunna so we can get our minds right."

Not really

Kendrick doesn't rap from an actually banging perspective, but is affiliated in real life

LA gang politics seem to be a whole nother beast than anywhere else in the nation

Kendrick also has more depth than Gunna, so when he's rapping stuff on songs, it serves a purpose other than just bravado

You'll probably just say I'm making excuses
