The ending of this album "Leave the Game" is the equivalent of Gunplay ethering his critics all at once.
Masspike has the definitive comeback hook on a MMG record. He should be on every MMG record now. Hell of a writer and singer, his mixtape series "Skkymilles" is worth listening to every single volume.
I don't think he is going to go at least another year without doing something. HE could've put sooo many of those records he had "Jumping out" "Mask On" "All on You" so many records.. But he chose 11 and his features were on point as well.
Man, I gotta listen to Living Legend again soon.
I can't guess what the second album will be, that guy is too dynamic as a writer. He's studied the eras, he didn't just listen to southern legends. That guy was listening to Wu Tang, Busta,2pac, and his flow, phrasing is insane. How he drops in and drops out and connecting structure w/ the hooks.
That line on that song where he says "I asked the preacher" that's on some cinematic shyt how he sets that up. It is like audio movie, I can see that car.... I can see the road. THAT is when you know you have a writer on your hands. When you can streamline that into something thought provoking.
The vulnerability of putting his mom at the end of the record..........
But the craziest thing is, he has 10 producers. I don't think I've heard a record where someone has 10 producers and I am captivated by it. I was reading a brief description and he wanted to make it clear that the record the sounds the way it does is because he was there w/ the beat maker telling him what he exactly wanted. When the drums come in, when the kick drum hits........ That's why when you listen to the fukking beat, it sounds arranged around GP's voice.
GP is like the Hunter Thompson of Maybach. Come back soon GP.......
P.S. if there is ever a series on "Cocaine Cowboys" maaaaan could he direct that or star in that as a character. His music videos keep getting more and more like they can't be 5 minutes anymore.
His camera game is (hands down) as nice as his writing abilities.
