i'm already suspicious of these claims since boundaries have ALWAYS existed and nation-states/kingdoms have always been led by a select few who had the direction of the community on their back...but the influence of geography and agriculture can't be overstated...ESPECIALLY in those formative years of human civilization.

talking about life in the 20th century just ignores how streamlined so much of it really is for the most part around the world.

The examples that they use for their theory go back to the 15th century. I think their theory is a piece of the puzzle rather than a comprehensive explanation. But I don't think Diamond's theory is comprehensive either. How can it be? Global development is and has been extremely complicated.

i said the europeans that sailed into africa during the 1500 encountered africans that were not technologically advanced and that is how they were able to conquer them

and no, the people in west africa did not have ships or guns and they did not have an indigenous written language, which put them at a huge disadvantage
