I am relatively slim. Am active. Play soccer at least four times a week and played all my youth till now. So I’m not unalthetic.

I want to focus more or toning for some pecs and abs and more work on strength if my legs to prevent and injuries will playing soccer. Don’t care for strength

Would calisthenics be better or should I just do weightlifting.

TLDR: calisthenics, weightlifting, or mix of both for body “toning”

Start with calisthenics and then move to lifting weights.

  • Weightlifting - Easier to progress for most people (ex Squats, Dead lifts, and bench press
  • Calisthenics - harder to progress (ex Pistol Squats, One armed pull ups, and Glute ham raise)

Basically this.

I'm a big advocate of calisthenics. But my body is very responsive to body weight training so I don't need the gym, which I find to be too time consuming for me. Calisthenics gives me that flexibility to do it at any time.

Answer is definitely weightlifting if you're a dude. Calisthenics will get you shredded and have your abs showing, but no V taper, wide shoulders, etc.

If you’re thin and playing soccer regularly already, definitely go for weight lifting and upping your caloric intake.

Lift weights and eat more, watch your clothes start to not fit anymore after 6 months. I've been slim all my life and when I was lifting consistently I was still slim but way stronger than I looked. And it helped tremendously with cardio, I was squatting heavy like 3 times a week for a while and then started riding a bicycle for cardio and ended up doing almost a 60 mile ride my second month of riding because my legs never got tired, so I'd imagine you'd be able to kick a soccer ball hard as fck and run forever. :salute:
