Big fan of both and fukk with GZA more.

I have no idea how Lupe is as a performer but I cant imagine GZA's more calm, reserved persona translates well into a solo performance.

He could have Busta Rhymes as a hype man and that wouldnt change anything. Including the Wu would be cheating.

Also I dont know if theres really a solid enough audience for that type of rap and an unvetted audience would probably claim to be bored.

GZA has Liquid Swords, and he's Wu, so people are going to favor him. That's clear. Liquid Swords is easily one of the best albums in Hip Hop of all-time, but I can't honestly say that GZA can outrap Lupe. If you threw on beats and sat them down and they went back and forth, I don’t think GZA would be able to keep up with Lupe, lyrically. Not today anyway. And I'm saying this as a HUGE fan of GZA.

GZA is more of a legend. Way more classic pedigree. But I don’t think he's a better lyricist than Lupe.

gza(espescially modern gza) is not writing like this, his shyt would just be more straightforward, less dense rhyming wise, with some academic words, terms and phrases sprinkled throughout

but nothing lyrical that can match this, and this isnt even really Lupe's best displays of just pure writing lyrical spitting

Lupe is an excellent lyricist but I don't think this is a good comparison. GZA hasn't released a record in 15 years so I don't know what his pen game is like at this point.
