we've had this discussion ad-nauseam over the past week or two. i hate the strategy. but i hate even more having to change a rule because a player cant shoot above 50% from the free throw line.

but unfortunately, i've decided id rather see fouls away from the ball result in 1 free throw, plus the team retains possession.

theres already precedent with the 1 free throw, plus possession (illegal defense) so it would be the easiest penalty to implement. i dunno if i like giving teams the option on picking what type of penalty should be assessed. i think all penalties should always just be set in stone.
