Are you assuming people with kids can’t work 1099? Can’t afford their insurance or other costs?

Just curious about the question. What’s your assumption?

I work a 1099 sales job, make plenty of money to travel, pay my bills in San Diego, insurance, savings, investments etc.

like I said, not everyone is built to do it like I am. Kids or no kids, some people are able to bet on themselves and have the skills, drive, organizational skills, and savvy to not need a guaranteed bi weekly paycheck, and some people are not able to.

no diss to anyone who can’t/doesn’t, I can :manny:

At my first job outta college they told us to under no circumstances discuss your pay with others. We discussed it at lunch :mjlol:

This was before I knew I could negotiate my salary during the hiring process (it was my first corporate job…). I found out my co-workers were making more than me, and I ended up asking my boss for more money, and it worked
My first job out of college was through a hook up. When they told me the salary, I hit em with the ':rudy: :mjlol:' and promptly negotiated better.


They were Jews so they respected my haggling g and hired me immediately. :wow:

I’m saying the claim of paying for your own benefits is different when you have kids and your employer is shouldering the majority of those cost for benefits
