Not to mention it shouldn't be that hard for Noel to develop a 15-20ft mid range. If they both stay healthy and Nerlens can hit spot up mid range shots, the East will be in trouble by 2020.
It shouldn't be hard for a big man who showed absolutely no signs of a jump shot at all in college to develop a mid-range game, yea ok :heh:.

Hakeem has never taught a big man that actually had a good base of moves and an understanding that the hook shot is the foundation, the moves are just a means to get the hook off and the counters are what you do when they take away the initial hook attempt.

REALLY good post.

The NBA game is quite different today but a big man who can properly execute a hook shot will ALWAYS be relevant. It is one of the very few shots that, at its best, can simply not be defended properly. ESPECIALLY now given the small ball being played in the NBA+the lack of physical play.

Fundamentals don't change. All you gotta do is look at what happened in the finals to realize that. I'm stunned that the few big men in the league haven't worked at mastering their foot work, and specifically the hook shot. That's a shot that can easily get you 6-10 points in a game.
