As time goes on folks will care less and less.

Up here in Canada barely anyone wears a poppy anymore. I remember growing up and you'd have WW2 vets come to school and talk about certain battles

They're all dead now for the most part . This is a tiktok short clip generation

Yeah I don't really get this.
There's not a binary aspect to learning about history.

Nobody said you can't learn about black history AND world history.
It's honestly baffling to me that people are responding this way.

Knowing about the holocaust is one thing. Going deeper in your knowledge is another.
What are you, a Jew or something?

I'm not telling you HOW to think.
I'm baffled that some of you never got the curiosity to think at all.

:picard:

"I already made a thread about South Carolina law discriminating Black people"

Translation: "I threw y'all a bone and educated y'all about your own discrimination history, y'all should be happy I brought it up since y'all are ignorant to alot of things"

Your Latino CAC true personality is showing. The crazy part is you are that tone deaf to catch it. The black c00ns you hang out with in real life that accept you because you got a backwards cap and know a couple Hip Hop phrases got you REAL real comfortable

With the rise of the far right globally, it's better that the average person has credible knowledge of atrocities so that a person in the everyday can refute "fascism isn't that bad really" arguments that are pushed daily online and seeped heavily into real life.

That isn't to say you have to list Auschwitz and Treblinka and Dachau, but the knowledge needs retaining so that future understanding of it doesn't descend into 4cac handwaving and lame nazi puns

I made that South Carolina thread at 2:38pm
I made this thread at 3:35pm.

You really think I waited an hour between threads on some "gotcha" shyt?

:mjlol:

I also commented on this thread earlier today.
I guess it was all part of this "cac latino master plan"

Half? That bullshyt. 99% of people can't name a concentration camp. I follow history and can't name one.

Do you honestly think this would only be exclusive to America?
:unimpressed:
Yes :unimpressed:
Breh it was 80 years ago, brehs did not even have civil rights and black folks were still getting lynched and couldn't drink out of fountain.

The average person knows of the Holocaust, Anne Frank, Auschwitz
If they can't name Auschwitz then they apparently don't.

Tbh this makes for a better thread. I wonder what percentage of the coli could name one?
It would be easy to do, because of the internet. So asking questions like that online is not a determiner of how well someone remembers information, but more so determines how lazy they are. Example, it was quite simple to find a website about Holocaust camps.

I should have known better but I keep giving this board the benefit of the doubt.
So while it's intellectually beneath me to even have to explain this, here goes...

1. There's no agenda here with this thread. I didn't make the thread about the history of the bar exam in South Carolina, then made this thread to see which thread would get the most activity. They were each threads of general interest, both highlighting American ignorance to one degree or another.

2. The whole point behind my comment about this thread getting the puters puting is to expose how some of you are constantly looking for something to be offended about. I didn't EXPECT one thread to attract more traffic than another, but some of you are seemingly highly triggered by the imagined inference that you SHOULD care about the holocaust even though you're not a jew (or one of the other minorities who were murdered). That said, if you're going to get on your high horse and claim you shouldn't give a shyt about the holocaust because they weren't black, then by that logic it would make sense that you WOULD give a shyt about the thread about black history. And you didn't.

3. The Statista page in the OP said NOTHING about whether Black Americans could name a concentration camp during the holocaust. It was merely Americans. So getting all defensive about "why should I care about this" doesn't even make sense from that standpoint...and that's the leg most of you are standing on.

It's weird.
And makes zero sense.

😘
