Depends on the attitude of the player. Some need direction, some don't. Really a :manny: type of question.

I am just trying to figure out who needs who more the player or the coach....You need players but you also need a coach that knows what he is doing

Assuming the superstar is playing on a title contender, the coach doesn't really matter unless the coach is utterly retarded.

OKC Coach?....Mike Brown on the Lakers and Cavs?

Those Cavs teams never had a legit shot to win the title, it was solely Bron.
Brown and WOAToni were terrible, Lakers should of got Shaw.
OKC has the talent to win, but they have to face the Heat this year.

one mistake can make a big diff and thats where a great coach can do. If Pop was not the coach I dont think the spurs are very good just ok he does alot to keep them fresh and ready for the playoffs.

Bulls lost in game 7 of the ecf the year before phil jackson became the head coach.I believe they would of won a title if phil never became coach.Mike was hungry he woulda eventually got at least one but phil implementing tex winters triangle offense is what made the bulls unstoppable

Same thing when phil went to the lakers. They were getting close and phil bringin the triangle there made them a different team especially when you have shaq as the focal point cuz that offense is designed to run out of the post

I do think a great coach helps to me it seems like when a great player does not have a great coach it seems like something is missing.

Phil Jax was the coach when they lost in 7 to the Pistons in 1990... Doug Collins was fired after they lost in 6 the year before.

You need a great or at the very least very good coach to actually get over the hump and win it all. Talent is more important in the NBA than in any other sport and coaching is less important but you can only get so far on talent alone. You need that coach to put it all together. On a side note, is it possible to be a great coach without having a great player/players? Is there a great coach that never had a great player? I am sitting here trying to think off top and I can't think of one all-time great coach who didn't have an ATG at some point in his career.
