I thought the Halo 1 magnum was OP, seeing as it's supposed to be a pistol...but at the same time it was so godly that I didn't even care.
Halo 1's MP was great because it was incredibly simple. Knowing grenade points to blast weapons in your direction was an incredible skill play alone. The 3sk, the sniper, plasma rifle trolling, timing power-ups...everything about H1 was
H2 didn't improve upon H1's default greatness, but definitely took the franchise, and console shooters, to a new plateau. I remember pre-patch before they boosted rankings and killed off the rocket to the head insta-ko, just getting level 24+ meant you was working nikkas something fierce in matchmaking. Custom games were legendary brehs. Glitching out of Headlong was epic, sword-cancelling on top of Foundation, super jumping on Lockout...Glorious

Even the more fun shyt like Tower of Power, Zombies, Troy on Coagulation, Cat and Mouse...and then when you was ready to turn up and convey excellence you were throwing on MLG TS v6.8 and shyt. Loading up Lockout or Midship, flag bouncing across Colossus, tossing flag to the teammate outside on Beaver Creek as he runs through tele and oops it to the other homie.
H2 was amazing and I enjoyed it so much more than 1, simply because of online XBL. Don't think I'll get the same reaction nowadays in H1. A lot of H2 players that slobbed on H1 was whack when I got down on Xbox Connect w/ em(fukk xlink kai
