Out the gate destiny had sprint, double jump of multiple kinds, hovering, teleport, supercharged melee attacks, aim down the sights, an ultimate attacks that were on a timed charge. When was any of that besides sprint in any of the first 4 halo games or reach of odst?

Just because they added modern shooter mechanics doesn't mean the game didn't feel like a Halo game in terms of gunplay and movement. The enemies even felt like reskinned Halo enemies, and the tactics to take them out was the same.

Halo and COD were THE FPS games that set the standard in the early 2000s on console. What other FPS games came close? Maybe Killzone and thats a big maybe. Haze was a flop. Medal Honor was a flop.

Xbox is dead

Xbox is the new Sega, PS is the new Nintendo but it's crazy how Nintendo stays strong for many years.

I don't know if I'd say that. Playstation's hardware sales have been so, so much more stable (e.g. better) than Nintendo's, PS Vita notwithstanding.

Emotional over Halo on PS? I think people should just be honest. The home console market just doesn't have room for 3 very successful competitors.

The only real time it happened the market leader shyt the bed and put out a $600 console and people revolted for a while but eventually came back.

Sega, Neo Geo, 3DO, Jaguar, and others have tried and it doesn't work. This outcome was inevitable. That 3rd player always falls to ruin. The market prefers a monopoly.

Halo 3 especially was that game when it dropped. If you didn't play the split-screen with your friends back in the day, you missed out, and I didn't even own an Xbox.

Killzone takes me back though. I remember when Haze had some hype and it just didn't deliver. Makes me wonder what could've happened if they put more effort into growing the Resistance series, because I think that could've went places.
