The majority of the people I know are terrible with money. They will talk down on you for having a 10 year-old car while also calling you because they cant make the payments on their brand new car.
Its agitating when people ask me for financial advice and either do the opposite or get mad when I say cut the spending. I don't even offer to help anymore, I've come to realize some people enjoy being broke.

I've seen too many people blow through this stimulus money like it was nothing.

aint gonna hold you chief. before covid, I had less then 1k saved. I spend every dollar traveling, eating out, etc. I always had investments but I never had savings. I also never had any "emergencies" or issues paying my bills. I was just irresponsible.

Covid scared the shyt out of me and I started saving 2k a month. it became easy especially during lockdown.

I was still a financial counselor during Covid and I saw all the effects of people who had no savings. Straight turmoil. Some people didn’t get unemployment for months

Also, shyt like this is why I don’t understand how people feel depressed or inadequate looking at shyt on social media. That shyt is not real life. Most people are one bad day/accident away from being homeless…and shyts only getting worse with inflation and rising housing cost

Part of it is selection bias. Those that feel comfortable in their financial position are more likely to speak on it.

My family is comfortable, but I personally don't find all this financial insecurity funny at all. I know it's disproportionately my people struggling which is manifesting in some sad ways.
