Yeah, it is. You’re losing money if it’s just sitting in an account. After you stack up enough money for six months of living expenses, you’re losing tons of money if you have a mortgage and other debt. Interest on debt vastly out paces the interest the banks pays… it’s just my opinion though.

The majority of the people I know are terrible with money. They will talk down on you for having a 10 year-old car while also calling you because they cant make the payments on their brand new car.
Its agitating when people ask me for financial advice and either do the opposite or get mad when I say cut the spending. I don't even offer to help anymore, I've come to realize some people enjoy being broke.
It definitely is a state of mind here. I grew up poor and I never want to go back that's why I'm always trying to make sure I never overextend myself.

aint gonna hold you chief. before covid, I had less then 1k saved. I spend every dollar traveling, eating out, etc. I always had investments but I never had savings. I also never had any "emergencies" or issues paying my bills. I was just irresponsible.

Covid scared the shyt out of me and I started saving 2k a month. it became easy especially during lockdown.
That's what happened to me as well. I was just living life but when everything was shut down I had to find other stuff to do and I started recognizing how much extra money I had lol. So I started stacking and paying stuff off. I still do it now because this economy is all smoke and mirrors and will crash eventually so I don't wanna be holding the bag. Also most of the people I hung out with pre Covid I stopped. They're still doing the same stuff like nothing changed and I'm not on that time anymore. Trying to move a bit smarter out here :yeshrug:

What percentage of Americans live paycheck to paycheck?

During the height of the pandemic in 2020, the Washington Post published an article revealing some startling numbers about the millions of Americans living paycheck to paycheck:

  • According to data compiled by Nielsen, the American Payroll Association, CareerBuilder, and the NEFE, 78 percent of employees earn just enough to pay their bills each month. Missing a paycheck for them means living with overdue bills.
  • The January 2020 Financial Security Index survey showed that 40 percent of U.S. adults would cover the cost of a $1,000 emergency room visit using savings, and Gallup released in December 2020 that one-third of Americans say they or a family member didn’t pursue treatment for a medical condition in the past year because of cost.
  • The Federal Reserve Bank determined in 2019 that nearly 40 percent of adults in the U.S. wouldn’t be able to cover a $400 emergency with cash, savings, or a credit card that they could quickly pay off.

This country is a shythole:wow:

Not surprised by this same story the last 5 years that it has been reported

The things I see personally

1. Struggling people don’t understand the situation with the pandemic and the effect it has on everything

2. nikkas already talking about buying cars, clothes, electronics, etc with their tax refund but the same ones complaining about their credit card payment is to high or not enough money for rent and they going to put that on the back burner

3. still seeing nikkas taking out pay day loans and get mad because the interest they have to pay

4. I’m continuing to see these professional women around me taking trips, buying new Mercedes and they have $150,000 in student loan payments due but adding more shyt on top of that because of the car note, child care, etc.. but it’s competition with their girls

Most people don't save anymore because of credit.
All the money that would be going to savings is going to the banks for credit card payments.

Wait till them interest rates get raised and jokers getting squeezed by inflation and high interest rates.

That also will mean companies will cut jobs cause they can't get low interest loans. And no bail out or stimulus checks.

Man its gonna a be so hot in the streets the next couple of years.
