I never understood why HBCUs are the most restrictive colleges out there. I mean yall still dealing with separate dorms and that bullshyt sign in system where all visitors have to leave at 8pm? Man at GT they didnt give a shyt who came in or out of your dorm and what time they left.

They scared nikkas gonna turn the dorms into child ridden public housing facilities?

It ain't all HBCU's mane... Its Hampton... Everyone that runs that school has a huge stick up their ass.. At least that's how it was when I was there.... Fuk em... I hated everything about that school except for the students...The administration. and staff did a good job at trying to make your experience their as whack as possible

Old white men don't even like us having facial hair. Crazy thing is, I never noticed that most white dudes RARELY have facial hair while, most black dudes RARELY are clean shaven. Our swag is in our beards/goatees, like Samson's hair Most of us look weird as shyt without it

Whenever I cut my facial hair off, my mom, or girl will say, "Did you mess up while shaving and just shaved it all off?"... it's just a part of me

This isn't true at all. It depends on the type of work and the person's exposure.

If it's consulting and you're dealing with clients, then yeah, you might have to appear a certain way. But if you're interaction isn't on the frontline of the business, companies that aren't stuck in the past don't care how you look as long as you're doing your job.

On some real shyt though, I was faced with this decision back in 07 when I was interviewing for an internship for JPMorganChase.

I had braids, I didn't have them too long though, but I remember my thoughts before entering the interview.

I was like, I wonder if this recruiter is going to even take me seriously because of my hair. This was my first taste of corporate work, I had just switched my major to MIS in the College of Business at my school, it all came fast. So as I'm having all these thoughts in my head about how another person is going to view me, and I'm assuming how this person will look etc, I get to the career center at the school where the interview is, and to my surprise the recruiter was a black woman with micros...

I immediately felt so ignorant for just assuming it would be some white guy. She was real cool, we just talked and it went smoothly. I ended up getting the offer despite what my hair looked like, and I assume she probably went through similar things throughout her career.

After talking to one of the heads of the business department about how the interview went, he pulled me to the side and came out and said, "You know, you're cutting that hair off before you start working there in the summer"...

You cats have no idea how the business world works, especially in terms of recruiting. We are talking about an MBA program breh, not undergrad.

I went to a top 3 biz school in the country and I can tell you first hand: every fukking body's appearance is managed by the school. They have a rep to protect and want these corporations coming back to keep giving their students offers to keep raising their rankings (and keep that donor money coming in).

Have any of you ever recruited for an MBA level position, especially in a finance related field? I'm talking consulting, investment management, fund managenent.... and when you get to investment banking? Forget about it. If you don't look the exact same as every other motherfukker in there, they liable to not even let u in the recruiting event period. There is a well known appearance code when you first starting, you're not allowed any type of wiggle room. Your tie could be the wrong color and you ain't getting that summer internship let alone showing up with locs down to your ass. And it's the same for white dudes, either be clean cut the way the banks want or look for work elsewhere

now the first 2 floors are guys and the rest are girls. Strawberry banks doesn't exist anymore so they just build an all new female dorm and turned Marshall and winona into male dorms
