What drama?

They were upset because the first black president didn't come from the "black elite". Barack is African and his wife came from middle class people from South Side Chicago. I guess they always assumed they would bring about the first black president.

after he was elected, I read an article where bougie black ppl in the DC area commented that they don't know much about him and that they were waiting for Obama and his wife to approach them. Which was one of the most ridiculous things I ever heard. nobody got time for that (sweet brown)

Took you awhile to respond. Did you have to look up the meaning of vagabond?

I met a woman in court of all places that introduced me to alot of successful black people and through that connect, I ended up with my current job. Alot of these brothas and sistas are in Atlanta and I noticed they all graduated from HBCU's in which I looked down on. They invite me to alot of events and at a recent gathering I could have met Bill Campbell (former Atlanta mayor) and parlayed with alot of other millionaire brothas and sistas but it's not quite my thing.

The lady who I met understands and she thinks I will come around once I let go a few of my bad habits. I thank her for my current situation but honestly black elitist and I can't believe i'm saying this, Allah knows I do but they can be worst than crakkkas. Anyone that has ever been around these people in public will agree with me if you are normal.

black love, unity, and music
Family history? Well this varies but a little on my background. Grandparents and parents went to Howard. I bucked that trend only because I attended an Ivy(Dartmouth). Grew up Jack N' Jill. Older brother went to Howard as well where he met his wife. She is Jack N' Jill as well. Her family owns reputable car dealerships in the area.

Profession? Simple. Owning a business or upper level management. Dentists, Doctors and educators as well. Professors, Principals and teachers all bring a level of service and commitment to an inner circle. Rappers and sports are usually shunned. Shouldn't have to explain rappers but sports figures for the most part are a no-no especially the "run, negro, run" sports. Tennis and golf are acceptable, but the others are frowned upon.

Sounds like a bunch of self hating nikkas to me. I read that book about the black elites called "Our Kind of people" by L. Graham and left with nothing but utter disgust and contempt for these kind of societies. It seems the main function of these so called "groups" is isolating themselves from black communities and ingratiating themselves in white culture as much as possible. The whole idea of these societies is demonic really. I could easily be apart of one of these groups based on my income and station in life, but i say fukk em.

Interesting that you feel this way considering they have helped you in your journey. Quite comical that you looked down on HBCU's yet they are the one providing employment opportunities. Different strokes for different folks but if your way was all that much better you wouldn't have taken that handout.

I respectively disagree as well. What Graham proposed was a lot of tongue and cheek. Some of it grossly exaggerated for entertainment value to sell more copies. As far as the isolation part that is a ridiculous accusation as well considering philanthropy is highly respected. I don't doubt you could be apart of a group considering these days the standards are non-existent.

:upsetfavre:

Who wouldn't accept a little help with a job in this economy, that would be idiotic. Also, calling it a handout is insulting to me, it was simply help. I have a sibling that graduated from Howard and got accepted into the Morehouse "School of Medicine" and that sibling on mine is a fukking idiot as you are coming off. I can't stand elitist negroes that look down on other negroes, it's disgusting.

This is stolen from another website and I couldn't agree more but...

In the black community, we have put ourselves in a position where elitism or rather social and class divides are going to be yet another nail in the coffin of moving forward as a black race. Perhaps I am invoking this slightly antiquated and Civil Rights era belief about being unified as a race in order to “move forward” and whatever that is or may look like...

Don't you agree slightly Mr. Bougie Negroe?

You shouldn't be insulted no more than the people who have provided you an opportunity, yet you are online disrespecting them. You are not in the economic nor social position to call anyone out nor liken a group of black people helping out other black people to crackers. Who have you employed? Who has the author of that blog employed? Just this past month we interviewed two seniors from NCCU who will be graduating this spring. If the next round of interviews go well, the two of them will be employed at my firm which is black owned. That person is also apart of this legacy of so called uppity negroes.

As for that comment, I do not agree at all. The problem with moving forward as a black race is education and economics. Pointing out the natural class differences that exist in a Capitalistic society as if they are inherently sinister solves nothing.

What this does is effectively blows their pomp illusion wide open. They place themselves at the head of the table, when their arm in the political arena wasnt long enough to get the seat let alone strongarm one that did. They sat there thinking that IF there was to be a black commander-in-chief it would rise from them and them only.

Its a humbling experience for them:obama:

dont get me wrong, i do believe they hold considerable pull within their respective circle(s), but my point is that this shows the way they puff out they chest aint equivalent to their benchpress.

great effort though, nikkas.

Since I don't know much about the boule I wont necessarily judge them but if they are doing all the good the elitist poster stated I would hope some of that is making its way to the black neighborhoods that need it. I totally agree with the economics and education idea in that we need to focus on those principles in order to really start to change our situation here in America.

I appreciate what the black elite types have done, but I do feel they could do more. That just my personal opinion. But then again, I've benefited from the help that was extended to me in my earlier years, and I do try to pay it forward.

It's just some of the attitudes are super annoying. The white elite types too, in their own way, but the blacks can be so fixated on material things, and some can be anti-Afrixan as well which I am NOT going for!!!!

That is unfortunate, but I assure you that no one I associate at with harbor any negative views on other blacks. Anti-African is a strong statement. Here in the DMV area that is not the case. I'd also like to remind you that there is a b*stardization of what is black elite. If you didn't go to HBCU and didn't attend an IVY or a respected university you are most likely not in that category. Having a good job, income and being the first generation out of poverty means you are not elite. That's the problem many had with Barack Obama which I personally believe was an over reported incident.

That's most likely the category of people you guys are running into with this sense of entitlement and snobbery. As previously stated you won't find a significant amount of difference in money between elitist's and non-elitist's. What you will find is a legacy of values.

What about people who dropped out of a HBCU :skip:
