Honestly they tried to use Hannibal as a lighting rod for the white women to hide behind. Make it seem like a black man took down another black man when that really wasn't the case.
I doubt he had any idea that one joke would be viewed as the green light to go after Cosby. I'm pretty sure that wasn't his intention either. Probably saw himself at the time as do many here after Cosby's condescending talk towards young Black folks.
I know one thing, I'd sure feel awkward in his shoes right now considering all of the praise he's receiving via both social media and otherwise. The irony to me is he probably owes a measure of the success with his career to Cosby for being one of the ones to pave the way for Black entertainers. At the same time, he definitely owes a measure of his popularity with being the guy that gave white folks the go ahead to jam Cosby up over dubious allegations.
