Y’all need to stop using Beyonce as the barometer for who the “biggest star.” Beyonce isn’t and has NEVER been the biggest star since she has debuted as a solo artist. If Beyonce is the only person you guys can measure Aaliyah against, the bar clearly isn’t that high. In that case, Aaliyah would have been just fine.
Y’all forget…Aaliyah was leaving Blackground and was about to sign with Rockafella right before she died. She would have have been working with prime Kanye and Just Blaze. And furthermore, Timbaland grew to be the hottest producer in pop music. Don’t think all them beats that went to Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado wouldn’t have gone to Aaliyah.
A lot of y’all nikkas need to stop and think for a second. Aaliyah died at 22. Beyonce is damn near 40. Beyonce has had about 17 years to grow and perfect her craft. Aaliyah died too young to really grow as an artist. But what we did get from her, is shytting ALL over Beyonce’s shyt.

23 Billboard Awards (3rd most of all time)
23 Grammy Awards (8th most of all time and most nominations for a female artist)
27 BET Awards (The most all time)
24 MTV Video Music Awards (The most all time)
Highest Grossing Music Tour
Most Tweeted About Moment (Super Bowl)
Highest Annual Earnings by a Female Singer
Fastest-selling album on iTunes
9th most Instagram followers
Plus so much more
But she has never been the biggest star?
And yes she did have a lot of time to make all those things happen, but you can't do all of that w/o being the biggest star at some point.
Are you aware of DMX’s criminal history? That’s what happened. To further your point DMX was a bigger artist and actor during that time, him and Aaliyah even played in a movie together. Where is DMX now?
Are you aware of DMX’s criminal history? That’s what happened.
Aaliyah had crossover appeal, which is how Beyonce got bigger. And again, look at Beyoncé’s performances compared to Mya. Beyoncé’s performances are full on stage productions. Aaliyah died just as she was starting to take off, so we don’t know what would have happened. Her music was still at the top when she died.

I don’t think he meant to imply that.. atleast that’s not what I got from it. Beyonce being the Beyonce of today has nothing to do with her sales or statistics (she was never the top seller of any specific time even during her commercial peak), hell britney’s spears first album outsold Beyonce’s entire discog. The phenomenon that she is was always based on her abilities as a captivating singer/entertainer, her work ethic and in the 10s, her conceptual albums/releases. I’d say Beyonce is bigger than her music.. She and her team set this foundation for herself from the very beginning of her being the ‘total package’ and simply expounded on it.

How is Beyonce supposed to the biggest artist in the game and she isn’t even bigger than Rihanna? bytch can’t even make top 30 on a list that’s based strictly on NUMBERS and y’all really wanna act like she’s running shyt? Gtfoh.
Like I said, at no point in time has Beyonce ever been the top chick in the game. If this is what y’all wanna measure Aaliyah against, that’s fine. And all those so-called accomplishments, she achieved over a career that spanned two decades. Aaliyah was only 7 years deep when she died.
Aaliyah's music coming to streaming platforms in 2020Uncle Barry doesn’t own the masters to that album. That’s basically R Kelly’s album. He didn’t get the distribution deal to own her stuff until ‘96.
?am I lying? Anyone that praises or shows respect to Beyonce rather that be her peers, legends that came before her, the industry or media always make it about her performing talents on stage, her work ethic (and dedication to her craft) along with her albums (visuals, attention to detail) and marketing strategies (i.e- the surprise drop in 2013). The focus was never solely based on her music ‘hits’ or sales.
These are observations.. da fukk some beyhive gotta do with this.
same with the phenomenon behind whitney being her voice or Mike being better than everyone else at virtually anything or Rihanna/Mariah and their countless hits.. Stevie and his artistry/musicianship etc etc
I can’t be the only one who hates this saying / cliche ...
maybe it’s just me ...
Beyonce aside, why is Taylor Swift above bonefide legends like Whitney, Stevie, Janet and Prince?
Why is Elton and Madonna above Michael?
