Nowhere near as bad as Bonilla’s. It was in Griffey’s contract and the Reds only paid him half his salary up front. There was no interest on Griffey’s payments.

The Bonilla—and Bruce Sutter— deals are bad because those teams paid interest in top of the principal. Bonilla was originally supposed to get $5.9 million And instead will get $25 million. Sutter’s payment was originally just 4.8 million. It’s way worse than any other deferred payments.
