Happy Endings is the better show...funnier and the cast is better.
New Girl is funny too but most of that comes in spite of Zooey Deschanel who is the weakest part of the cast to me.

Happy Endings is definitely better and I'm a fan of New Girl.

New Girl improved when they toned down Jess' character. I know Zooey's whole thing is how cute and quirky she is, but it got to the point where she pretty much became an unrealistic character, no one could be that quirky and still have friends, it was way too much.

When they turned that down, Schmidt started carrying the show and Nick became funny it took off. And Cece

But Happy Endings is just a better show overall. The fact that Elisha became the funniest character in season 2 is amazing....

I meant to vote New Girl but voted Happy Endings by mistake but they're about equal to me. New Girl really improved throughout the season and Happy Endings stepped up tremendously from its first season. They were both better than Community this season.
