Thanksgiving wasn't a betrayal though, thanksgiving literally was the natives of the region saving the dumb ass foreigners from their own stupidity and ignorance when they could have just killed them or allowed them to dieHappy Native American betrayal and slaughter day brehs.

Its just one the ingenius ways cacs turned a historical inhumane tragedy, to a sugar coated celebration of peace and togethernessHow wasn't that a betrayal? Natives tried to look out, cac pilgrims went on to betray them through genocide and conquest. Might've been a dumb move on the Natives part but they still got backstabbed.![]()

That said Thanksgiving isn't the mark of a betrayal but of kindness of humanity, against all odds or reason.
On top of that all the early settlers weren't evil or mean spirited towards the natives, like the Rhode Island folks that actually worked with the natives in their area and bought the land from them fairly.
I always looked at it not as a symbol of america and native relations, but as a nice event between the piligrim colony and that tribe that aided them. You're right. I kinda meant it as an overall statement. What started as one thing totally became another. With a Holiday like Thanksgiving you'd think Natives and non-Natives have held hands and sung kumbaya ever since. I suppose for the sake of being technical you're right, but I'd say the Holiday is a symbol of betrayal seeing how everything turned out.
