Harden doesn't even try to draw contact. He just flails his arms and expects refs to call fouls. Since its the playoffs, im sure opposing teams are sending videos of him doing that to the league office.

Harden is proof positive that the culture of NBA refs keeping their whistle in their pockets during the playoffs still exists.

Not to the degree it was during the 80s, but they definitely understand to let things play on.

"But one guy I haven't figured all the way out yet is James Harden. He's pretty crafty. I'm not impressed with his ball-handling, but his finishing skills are scary. Even though he's lefty, if he goes right he's going to put the ball out and get the foul. It's kind of tough because you don't want to get a foul called. And once you get your first or second foul, you kind of ease up." - Tony Allen

we've been saying this for years now. harden baits refs into calling cheap fouls, then the defender can't do anything......that's when harden starts going off

if the primary defender stays out of foul trouble they usually do ok against him

Since its the playoffs, there's more time to for coaches to install a gameplan around it rather than cast it aside for the day to day grind of the regular season.
