I didnt say anything about why or how slaves were freed. Im saying the anti-slavery and abolitionist movement of the 19th century was a liberal movement of the time. Point blank.

And slaves were not freed just to weaken southern states. Slaves were freed in order to transition us economically from a nation relying on slave labor (benefiting only rich elites) to one of wage labor (benefiting all working class Americans).

An industrialized nation with tons of jobs for everyone and a fully integrated military force (not to mention free of the added social tension that slavery caused) made far more sense in the long run. The UK and other European powers had already eradicated slave trading across their countries and colonies for decades. Continuing with slavery kept the US less competitive. Lincoln didnt just believe slavery was a moral wrong, it was archaic and economically disadvantageous.

Black people have NEVER been politically conservative. That is more apolitical, ahistorical coli contrarian bullshyt coming out of peoples ass for daps. For Gods sake black Americans vote upward 80-90% Democrat. We are THE most historically and traditionally liberal voting bloc in America and in the entire world. And for good damn reason. Polls show that black Americans are overwhelmingly supportive of liberal policy in regards to just about anything. We overwhelmingly prefer the liberal candidate and and party every election cycle. Whens the last time a conservative politician got even 15% of black votes? Never because conservatism is fukking stupid, and no black man or woman in their right mind would co-sign it.
