Absolutely not. You are born, you live, you get old and die. That's how it is, and yes aging is part of life. Sometimes it's that simple.
We as a species have reached the point where we just cannot accept our physical limitations and more generally our mortality. It's the perfect example, imo, of humans' arrogance and narcissism, and will have the world move more and more towards unheard levels of inequality.
Why not do both?
Aging is a part of life but that doesn't mean human lifespan ends around age 85. If we could live to 300 years old, why not do it?

I don't think the elite would use a disease. Too much blood and guts...I think it would be a mass sterilization. Like children of men. Imagine only 1 in 10 being able to have kids, or having to pay an exuberant amount of money to have kids. People are already willingly choosing not to have kids. A lot less panic when people simply just can't have kids.
You have to think about the elites mentality as, they want to preserve the status quo. No point in exterminating everyone if the world turns to shyt.
I would like to live to be 500 though...that's all I need.
