I hope so, too. This hardline from Trump is just to discourage/scare international students and faculty from going to Harvard.
Feels he can weaken the institution if it no longer attracts the best and brightest.

The jewish American and Asian American groups behind the dismantling of Affirmative Action likely back Trump's play here.

Harvard wasnt jumping high enough when told to by jewish billionaire alumni, so they are fully behind this bullshyt, and likely have an exemption for Israeli students in this international student ban of Trump's.
Asian-Americans truly proved not to be any sort of ally this past decade. That’s an example of culture mattering as much as education and clearly there isn’t an activist or social justice culture there.

The entire Ivy League should have stood with Harvard and let the movement spread. No way Trump would block international students to all universities.

This is what happens when cowards let people make a stand alone.

It's anyone's guess as to how many are in any position financially to take that approach. Endowments or not, a lot of their money will be leveraged into whatever investments and not be readily available to backfill operating costs from a sudden void in federal funding. That impact will vary by institution, but it's a pretty safe bet that all of them were complacent because surely that federal spigot couldn't ever possibly be turn off, right? Added to which, if it's one thing the vast majority of academia isn't about to give up, despite all their posturing, it's their lifestyle.

And the political operators know it.

Not implying that they are.

Just making the point of cash-on-hand-for-operating costs vs what everybody always hears regarding the schools' "value" :manny:

Anyway, any sudden jolt like fed money vanishing will have a LOT of schools scrambling.

Judge blocks Trump administration from revoking Harvard enrollment of foreign students

May 23, 2025

Views of Harvard University

  • Summary
  • Harvard calls revocation blatantly unconstitutional
  • White House accused Harvard of fostering antisemitism
  • Administration action would affect one-quarter of students
BOSTON, May 23 (Reuters) - A U.S. judge on Friday blocked the Trump administration from revoking Harvard University's ability to enroll foreign students, a move that ratcheted up White House efforts to conform practices in academia to President Donald Trump's policies.
In a complaint filed in Boston federal court filed earlier on Friday, Harvard called the revocation a "blatant violation" of the U.S. Constitution and other federal laws, and had an "immediate and devastating effect" on the university and more than 7,000 visa holders.

"With the stroke of a pen, the government has sought to erase a quarter of Harvard's student body, international students who contribute significantly to the University and its mission," Harvard said.
"Without its international students, Harvard is not Harvard," the 389-year-old school added.
U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs, an appointee of Democratic President Barack Obama, issued the temporary restraining order freezing the policy.

Trump's pressure on Harvard is part of the Republican's broader campaign to compel universities, law firms, news media, courts and other institutions that value independence from partisan politics to align with his agenda.
The campaign has included efforts to deport foreign students who participated in pro-Palestinian protests but committed no crimes, retaliate against law firms that employ lawyers who have challenged Trump, and a suggestion by Trump to impeach a judge for an immigration ruling the president didn't like.
