A long time ago.
Hell reggae is not even the most popular music out the islands now, soca passed it a long time ago as well. :heh:
whoa there... too far.

soca music is probably as polarizing as trance to me. it serves absolutely no purpose outside a dancefloor. and the lyrics are mad repetitive. jump up wave ya rag whine. nah son

Live in denial brehs :mjlol:
Its 2020, Afrobeat has crushed the buildings. Even got Future on Davido tracks now :dead:

I'll be around 100% Black Americans and they all know every word to "Ye" and "Joanna" :ohhh:

No rush challenge everywhere u turn your head :wow:

Got girls singing "money fall on me" :blessed:

For it to be more of a passing wave, we'd need big concerts in the states.

dancehall & the music from the caribbean is still raw

the content & energy is not for mass consumption

afrobeats has a some dancehall flavor in it but it doesn't have the overload of badness & slackness

caribbean artist too raw & wild with the fukkery to really go pop

all facts and the reason why they are taking L's in the mainstream. that shyt isn't helping them. the music is way to violent sounding. dancehall regressed horribly.

bring back the love.

Of course. Afrobeat has been creeping up and I don’t think we have even truly seen the renaissance yet. I think the genre will have a major period coming soon like hip hop had when it first was bubbling up

With everything going on now in Africa especially the travel bans to go to America(Nigeria) and the rebelling against China, it’s gonna have more revolution themes too ...

I know these are terms to describe the character of the sound but can you explain what this is in more detail?

iight take a love song for example

now ain't no way a dancehall artist can make a song like that & not talk about how the pum pum fat

mans gotta put it in the most rank way

the song will make your wifey roll her hips but it would also shock your grandma to death with the type of talk

folks have no censorship ha

Yes it has. Dancehall lost its way when it started copying other genres. Dancehall is now copying Afrobeats. There is even some bullshyt subgenre of dancehall called "trap".
Dancehall is an embarrassment. I can't even name a riddim that came out in the last five years.

Afrobeats is more wholesome and uplifting. Dancehall is slackness, c00nery, and buffoonery.
