This is such an easy "NO". He was supposed to be a transcendent QB---->isn't; supposed to be the second coming of Peyton---->isn't; supposed to have easily been the best quarterback in his draft class---->isn't, that honor goes to Russell Wilson...

This dude Luck has a serious Stan Club though and people fight in his honor, but this dude has underachieved through 7 seasons, let's see what this year brings...

I saw that video title yesterday, and couldn’t/can’t even bare to watch it. As objective as I can be, how tf could he have lived up to the hype with ONE AFCCG that his team got their doors blown off in, and very little individual hardware?

Now that’s not to say it’s his fault, between injuries and the Colts general ineptitude, but wtf :bronwut: he’s one of the most hyped CFB players of all time

Also fukk Andrew Luck :mjcryingmahomes:

I honestly thought he was gonna be better.

That's it in a nutshell, he was supposed to be better than this. At Luck's best, he has NEVER been as good as Peyton through Year 7 (1998-2004). Luck has never been the best QB in the game, not Top 4 in any year, Peyton was already in best QB convos by Year 3 (though Warner probably had it then) and after Year 7, it wasn't even a question that Peyton was the best QB in the NFL...

Luck was supposed to be as good as Peyton, and isn't even the best QB from his draft class. I called him overrated from jump street, the hype around dude was crazy, and I never bought it. Not draft season, not the rookie year or the subsequent deeper playoff runs. Dude is not what everybody else thought he would be and I called it the entire time...

No, because the hype surrounding his arrival was astronomical. He's been good though, and carried some terrible rosters further than they had any business going. In the process of doing that he had his career legitimately put in jeopardy because of the amount of hits he took behind turn style offensive lines.

Everything around him is better than it's ever been right now, from front office to coaching staff to OL to defense. He has a chance to live up to those lofty expectations if he can crank out some MVP campaigns during this second phase of his career.

I mean, maybe you called it, so sure. But in college he was the absolute prototype. Stanford was constantly putting him in situations where they were basically like "We trust you to do it" and he would always do it, whatever it was that needed doing. His decision-making was tremendous, he had all the throws, he was in a pro system already, his athleticism was fantastic, he was a physical specimen, he was tough as hell....I'd never seen a quarterback who had literally no weaknesses to his game.

And the truth is...he looked exactly like a very good NFL quarterback and he IS a very good NFL quarterback. It's just tough to know who will be an absolute star. If we knew what made a star then they'd all be #1 or #2 picks, and most of the stars end up somewhere lower than that and just turn out better than anyone imagined.

Ballard has finally gotten off his ass and started building an offensive line to protect him the last two seasons or so which should hopefully give him more time to throw in the pocket and lower the chances of him being murdered. He's also learned to stop going for dumb ass hero runs which also increased chances of him getting injured. I think these new developments will lead to him having a career year until they're inevitably destroyed by Brady and the Pats at some round of the playoffs.

It's hard to ask for more than four Pro Bowls in his first seven seasons, but as a Ducks fan who saw a lot of him in college, I honestly thought he was gonna be better.

You mean the same pro bowls where Alex Smith has gone 3 times? Pro Bowl always meant nothing and it's even worse now.

He hasn't lived up to the hype. He was supposed to be a generational QB and simply isn't. Is he good? Yes. But he got hyped to the moon.
