As a producer myself (hobby) I can tell you that most beats out here not only sound the same sonically but they all basically use the same frame work. 135-140 bmp, same arrangements and patterns. Russ wasn't talking out his ass fam.

a plug beat just doesn't sound like a metro beat even though they both may be at 150 and use a 808 and clap

To me it’s even worse... a lot of these young producers at least have built their own ‘sound’ even if the layout doesn’t deviate much Guy to guy... Russ on the other hand makes beats that sound like every YouTube beat that struggle rappers would rap over in 2014

I actually agree with him, damn near all the beats are 140 BPM and sound the same. Southside shouldn't have taken offense because he is a dope producer that has variety of different sounding beat styles.



fukk the sound cloud community, the glorification of opiates in our music is out of hand. People hate hear anything that goes against their little rap crushes...half of the "soundcloud" community and "fans" like them don't even support the artist they dikk ride.

I was at Soundset festival in Minneapolis over Memorial Day weekend, he performed, but he went before Wu Tang . About 40% of the crowd of 30,000 people were chanting Wu Tang and he got pissed and talked about his “real fans” and how he doesn’t have to wait to his last song to perform his big hits .
