Has anybody ever turned down a promotion at work?

like regular analyst to lead or analyst/lead to sup? where I'm at that's a drastic increase in pay. can be definitely more than a 10k increase?


what if in your current position shyt is so smooth and chill. no OT for the most part. no customer interfacing


everybody be fiending to move up to manager but to me you have to have the full support and proctection from upper management to succeed in a role like that

Certain people are built for other stuff,but some nikkas want the least amount of headaches as possible

Take the promotion it will bolster your resume. You can always leverage it into a job somewhere else if your work environment is bad.

Only time you don't take a promotion is if you don't think you are compentent or if you're getting played (minor or no pay bump, increased responsibilities, increased hours).

as for the second part. my company did me like that (basically demoted me but presented it as a promotion)

I didn't turn down an outright promotion. I did turn down an opportunity to interview for a position that I know I would've gotten, and for specific key reasons that actually turned out to be correct foresight on my part

my goal in work has always been to try to get pay increases without added responsibility that typically comes with such a thing

I have never turned down a promotion, but it wasn't to a managerial level promotion. Just a level up but mainly doing the same kind of work.
