I have to get inguinal hernia surgery next Wednesday and the surgeon told me that I will be out for six weeks. :noah: Has anyone had it before and what did you do to stay active during the recovery time. I'm not trying to make it worst or do any more damage but I REFUSE to sit on my ass and do nothing during the recovery time. I lift and do cardio for 40 minutes three times a week and this is really stressing me out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My girlfriend had one in September. She wasn't just sitting around. She just didn't lift anything over 25 lbs. She still did light workout, no weights. SHe didnt lift but still ran a treadmill. WE still had sex, but not as frequent as usual. Still drove. She was pretty actice. Really only thing that change was kid couldnt jump on her all wild.

i always wondered, what causes a hernia?

for my broad, having a baby. when her belly button got all big and poking out.It never went back to complete normal until she got the surgury. That was a year after a surgury.

I dont know for men, but a hernia recently killed my uncle. It could lead to stomach cancer.

How long did it take her to recover before she was normal again (lifting, sex and playing with the kids)?

A hernia occurs when an organ or fatty tissue squeezes through a weak spot in a surrounding muscle or connective tissue called fascia. The most common types are inguinal (inner groin), incisional (resulting from an incision), femoral (outer groin), umbilical (belly button), and hiatal (upper stomach).

The bolded is what I have now. :why:

Any type of hernia surgery requires at least 6 week rest. Inguinal hernia is one which requires complete rest, otherwise it is likely to give complications, which would then require a revision hernia repair. Lifting heavy weight is not an option at all. May be after 4 weeks u can start with some heavy rep exercise that would not strain the surgery area.

Hope you get well soon.

It been over 10 years since I had the surgery. I remember not be able to do much during the first few days because of the pain and soreness. After a week, I start going to gym and lifted lightly to stay active. I also walked on the treadmill for a hour and increase my speed over the weeks until I was running again. Overall, it was not bad especially if you keep yourself after once the pain and soreness goes away.
Also, don't try to have sex or rub one out for a min. Groin is going to be black and blue and last thing you want to do is get a hard on :russ: . Also taking a sh*t is going to be a struggle for a min because you use your intestines to pass stools. Make sure that you are eating a lot of fiber so everything goes smoothly.

What if I’m a coffee drinker? My morning coffee habits make it so that my shyts all come one after another in the morning with little to no problem :mjlol:

Nurse told me my balls might swell up right after. Not looking forward to this. Guess I’ll plan to stock up on high fiber cereal, oat milk and plenty of coffee :sadcam:
