Has anyone here been Sponsored for their Education, or Sponsored someone's future?

Growing up, my Aunt (RIP) was a Pastor, and one of the members of our Church, he was Sponsored directly or part of a Sponsorship for his education, through Grade School, High School and College. He eventually ended up working on Wall Street and credited his Academic success due to that Sponsorship, as his Parents would not have been able to afford his Private School tuition.

As the title suggests, any of you guys been a recipient or participated in this?

My granddad has a scholarship fund that we’ve continued from his passing-he was a Worshipful Master of his Masonic chapter.

On my 25th grad anniversaries I will donate to the program that sent me to boarding school and my boarding school for an AA student making good grades in need.

I def received scholarships and stipends, not full but a good amount.

I thought all large families did this , informally. If they place value on education, the members with resources will share them to help the children who show the most promise. Thought this was default Black family dynamic.

That's what myself and my siblings are doing, saving for our kids and nieces and nephews futures. IMO it is incredibly difficult for the average family, as most are focused on making ends meet due to living paycheck to paycheck.

The Brother I mentioned came from a dysfunctional home, he was able to make something of himself, but his two younger brothers were less fortunate, ended up getting caught up in the system, going in and out of prison. Ironically, the two bros kids are in Catholic Schools. Very proud of them.

Far too many of our youth can't wait to graduate from High School, going to College isn't seen as an ideal path towards success. Bouncing around from dead end job to dead end job, we gotta figure out better ways to encourage Higher Education in our Public School Systems. And especially at home.

@BaggerofTea we need to reshape the goals of education, at least in our hometowns.

@Yinny this is the first time I've read on here something about a Frat or Mason created, besides the obvious mentions of it being used as a status symbol. What city do you live in?
