Has anyone here ever had a house good for them from the ground up?

Yes I did. Signed the contract in December 2020. Closed August 2021. Cool experience.

I wish I got a window in the laundry room though :francis:

Yes, it was a long process but worth it because we got 90% of what we wanted. The other 10% we simply couldn’t afford but we can always add on.

:pachaha: My husband told me in the car before we picked out the cabinets, tiles, carpet etc… to
 not go crazy with upgrades when we get in here and talk to these people

I was :gladbron: at everything lol
Lol. Sounds just like my wife. We are going to do major bathroom and kitchen upgrades later but we definitely had it on the additional sunroom and other structural things

How much it cost you? Can it be cheaper than buying now? :jbhmm:

Was it your dream home? You still live there? If not why did you sell and for how much?

It can be cheaper. Original plan was 260k. Upgrades pushed it to 300K.

Sold it for a lil over 400K.

I made all of my bedrooms bigger. And my master br was huge, so that ran up costs.

I saved money by removing the tub from my master bath, and just extending the shower.

Just depends on what changes you want.

the builders provided him with preset options but added some things here and there. I don't know if it is like that everywhere though.

This

My sis and I went in together for a 4 br/3.5bath in the dmv. My folks live there now.
It's cheaper bc they are building 200+ houses at the same time and saving on material. Only paid extra for the top floor loft.
Basement is only 1/2 finished. If u look carefully, you can see where they cheaped out, for example only a single coat of paint on all the interiors. No outdoor fences or deck. Had to get the permits separately and finish it. Had to do the kitchen backsplash myself, etc

The house I'm in now I had custom built.
The one before this was bought from a builder.

The one bought from a builder was as simple as going to the showhouse, pick the lot, pick the floorplan and then wait 4 months for them to build it.

The custom home process I'll never do again. Basically I bought the lot, picked a builder, got plans drawn and had to pick everything that goes in the house. Took almost a year with COVID, supply chain issues and lthe umber price going crazy. I don't particularly enjoy that shyt but the crib is fire.
