Her name gets dropped for woke points on social media but I can tell many people haven't actually read her books. If they had read them then they wouldn't think so highly of her writing lol.
I've read wild seed. It was a breath of fresh air from the usual powerless slave narratives. You get to see black people fighting back and winning.

I had to read a couple of her books in College. I'm not going to say her writing sucks but I only made it past the first couple of chapters because I had too.

I think the value in her work comes from the way she presents black people, but it's not Something I would read for fun IMO.

In wild seed you do see an aggressive and dangerous black male. But I think his character is very open to interpretation. Hes extremely masculine and powerful, he's literally immortal and has made white people into his slaves and children. He wants to control the female black character, but thats really his whole personality. He has to be in charge at all times.

I dont think you could go wrong just browsing some of her stuff, she's willing to write black characters that feel complicated and powerful
