Octavia Butler is a genius. That is all. Never got the due credit while she was alive.
She’s been more celebrated and recognized posthumously. You’re right, she did win some sci fi book awards when alive but given the relevance of her novels today I think she’s still woefully under appreciated.
i legit didnt even know shes dead :snoop:

some reason i thought she was alive...whole time ive known about her shes been dead

Yo! Brehs... I been saying this to everyone I knew for the last ten years. I thought I was the only one. I'm reading the Patternist series right now.:ohhh: Her work is incredible to the point it's high key suspect hollywood haven't picked them up.

But honestly, a part of me prefers that. They wouldn't do her work justice.

It was amazing

She said she wrote it for all the young black kids who felt they wouldn’t have stayed slaves and would have fought back if they were born in that time. Basically to show the necessity of adapting

That janelle Monae Antebellum movie seemed like a blatant rip-off of the book

sounds like trash from the synopsis in the op and i hate bw/wm interracial bullshyt off top
Honestly its not, granted i had to set aside my biases because im not a fan of that stuff either or slave stories for that matter but its a great story and raises some questions for discussion. I wrote the op like that (which still isnt a lie) because i know how the coli is

Her name gets dropped for woke points on social media but I can tell many people haven't actually read her books. If they had read them then they wouldn't think so highly of her writing lol.

She isnt brought up enough when it comes to great writers but if i remember correctly she did get more than a few awards

She’s arguably the Godmother of AfroFuturism as a literary and pop culture genre, it’d be nice if she gets more recognition at the mainstream level. I was amazed when I saw that Jill Scott got one of her books (I think it was Parable) when she was about to do the Verzuz battle with Badu last May.

One of my favorite books I've read of hers. I heard Antebellum was supposed to be a rip off, really similar premise. Decided to not watch it off rip just in case it was stealing the concept

But Octavia is posthumous GOAT status. Fledgling was good too.

Its a book about a modern (modern at that time) black woman who get dizzy spells and end up waking up in 1815. Her white husband time travels with her sometimes as she travel back n forth to take care of massa rufus. Just wanted to hear the coli's thoughts and opinions :troll:
So instead of making a decent suggestion of a book u actually like
U write this synopsis purposely in an ignorant way to turn people off to the book:mjlol:

Coli nikkas I tell u:deadmanny:
