This is one of my favorite movies. Director did a fabulous job of showing how a relationship can deteriorate. I know a lot of people like to put the fault all on Michelle Williams' character, but I would have hated to be in a relationship with a person like Dean. He was a child. I'm sure eventually it wore on Michelle to basically have to take care of two children on her own while being the primary breadwinner.
That scene at the beginning where she was cleaning up after coming up from work and he was sitting on the couch watching home videos let me know early on that the marriage wasn't going to work

You could tell what of personality this bytch had at the
beginning. Playing in a wheelchair? What part of the game is that?
She acted liked she was slow/stoned throughout the whole movie.
She took it out on RG because he was not her first choice. Look how
she kept discussing love and passion with her grandmother and her
home life was fukked up, dad abusive as fukk..
Her character was right on par with the circumstances to me

The crazy thing is she was basically blaming Gosling for the fact that she never became a doctor, but really... she never had the characteristics of somebody who could become a doctor.
