What did you end up doing? That's more important than who discouraged you.

People have different interests, goals, and ambitions. So they will tend to speak from their personal perspective about what people can and can't, or should and shouldn't do.

Discouraging somebody from getting formal education, degree, cert. , much less a relative, sounds like straight crab in the barrel shyt.

Create a vision yourself breh and the steps to get there, then execute. Most people don’t make it because they’re too afraid of embarrassment and judgment to try.
