All these years, I have listened to this woman talk about herself (as women are wanton to do). She has talked so much about herself that I've heard the same story multiple times. The one time I finally get truly excited about something in my life (my tech journey) and I have all these big plans about how I'm going to form a startup that's going to make us extremely successful, she starts throwing around the word "narcissist" pertaining to me.

So because I want to build something that will change our lives, change the lives of my future generations (by building generational wealth), because I believe in myself...

Now I'm a "narcissist".

Not straight shyt on it, but I've had people joke and you knew the jokes were semi-mocking it. Just be selective who you share your dreams with. Some people say if you have a dream, wear it on your sleeve. I say let your shyt bubble quietly and fukk the non-believers.

my mom wasn't exactly keen on me joining a dev bootcamp but it actually resulted some wild shyt i can't share here.
yall would probably think it's ducktales anyway. the point is, she was rationalizing a lot of shyt at the time that I really didn't wanna hear at-- but it pushed me to think outside of the box and everything else happened as a result.

it's POSSIBLE that your fam was trying to help you weigh the debt of college vs similar pay 4 years earlier @semicko82. can't say and not trying to make that that case, but i DID wanna share cause not every situation in our lives is the same. they could be shytting on your goals... or their heart could be in the right place and trying to provide insight on things that we're too stubborn to discern. no matter what are stage is in life, i think it's healthy to take a step back and evaluate. assuming it's someone you can love and trust of course.
