I enjoyed it, however I’m starting to dislike this whole ‘Squid Game’ comparison with any survival series

1st Episode, when that fed turns up and gets his head clean off
:wow:
2nd episode, when Kokusho gets a flashback and takes out all those cops
:wow::picard:

:francis:Then shyt died down and we spend more on conspiracy and shyt.

:mjlol:Bruh,

They betted on the twins with spears making out first and they only had a 1 minute scene

:dead:Pissed me off but I stayed for the fighting scenes.

i finished it. this series was tell, don't show. they sat around talking about the game and who died more than showing it. and then it ends on a cliffhanger saying "end of chapter 1" :snoop:

iroha is a cutie though
Yes she is, I kept saying that

Yes, the show has some solid fight scenes — no denying that. But everything in between? Flat. And the whole “battle royal” premise could’ve been way more creative. They had the perfect setup to build rules, limitations, twists… anything that required real strategy. Instead, it was just “kill everyone.”

When anime tackles a similar concept, there are layers — power constraints, alliances, special conditions, time limits. You actually have to think. Here, it felt like they brainstormed for five minutes and called it a day. Twelve-year-old me would’ve eaten it up, sure… but this show clearly isn’t aimed at 12-year-olds. So why write it like it is?

And ending on a cliffhanger without even knowing if you’re getting a second season? Terrible move. Just give us 8–10 well-paced episodes and finish the story instead of rolling the dice with people’s time.

Knowing Netflix, we’ll be waiting another five years for this shyt to have another season:francis:
Just getting tired of the escort a kid story and a man dealing with his past/surrogate father figure
The fight scenes were quite impressive and the accurate scenery was A1
And that fake ass Kenpachi had me dying :dead:
7/10

Speaks to the influence of Kurisawa and Lone Wolf and Cub over the decades.

I just started reading the manga to this and the pacing is better than the adaptation
Plus it’s an ongoing series if I’m not mistaken
A lot of these studios try to keep pace with the manga so I know for a fact the next season may not be out for years
So people will forget the plot or even premise by then

Can you imagine for centuries, combat was based on how nice you were with a blade....then one day, you're in a battle and someone brings out guns and cannons and you instantly become obsolete?
Skill issue. They were still using hand to hand combat for several hundred years after guns were introduced to warfare. Around this time, the empire of Ethophia bodied the Italian army. They mostly had spears and shields
