Has Bernie built a big enough coalition to form a viable 3rd party?

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Obviously he's not a democrat. The only reason why he runs as a democrat is because of viability and infrastructure.

The only reason why he continues to lose is because he's an outsider.

With other democrats like AOC gaining momentum, eventually they need to form a third party.

1. You need a voting base. I think they could bleed that from registered democrats, republicans and independents

2. The only problem is money at this point. How many progressive billionaires are there? How many progressive corporations are there?

I liken it to banks vs. Credit unions

Norfeast groovin…
I’ve posted a bit about this and I’m interested to see what other people think about this idea. I think it’s possible but anything like that should be flexible enough to also potentially assimilate/semi-assimilate with the Dems in the event that a 3rd party isn’t viable.

Short answer, no.

Anyone with this intention would have to take over one of the current parties.

Yes, credit unions exist, but 70% off all banking is done by BoA, Chase and Wells and Citi.

They're the establishment.

Yeah. His followers + Green Party. He definitely has enough.

It's enough to tank elections and frustrate Democrats but not enough to compete with GOP and Dems.

I think Bernie and others should take over an already existing 3rd party like the Green Party. They have some type of infastructure and it would probably be easier to get on ballots across the country statewide.
But Bernie isn't the one. He gives too much deference and positive points to Democrats individually. You need a real heel who has 0 use for Dems but is also fairly popular nationally. I don't think that leader has emerged.

It would be crazy if that person ended up being some unqualified joke candidate like Trump, just a leftist... some goofy celebrity or social media personality. I could see someone like that picking up steam if they were charismatic and went super hard at Dems and Repubs and had their own version of Trump’s wall...maybe single payer healthcare. We live in crazy times.

I think people are willing to risk it. Staying the Dem triangulating Republican light course got us Trump. The current Dem strategy doesn't have a lot of credibility as a winning one. The people don't get the policies they want and Dems lose most of the time.
who is "people?"

Do the math.

That's not really true.
