That's actually pretty telling. Actually he sold 2.6mil of Take Care.

To gain a million album sales from the first album to the 2nd means people took notice to your previous work and you added fans. To lose a million after that is very troubling because it does show people outside of your fan base have checked out.

Look at Nicki's numbers.... she debuted selling nearly 2mil shyt dropped to barely a mil the next go around and she's still not at 500k with her current joint. And all we hear is that people are tired of her and etc.

The same is happening with Drake and this is why this next album is very important for him. The consensus is that Drake is a good artist that can make a hit record but that's it. He's not the type of artist that will inspire anything other than simping. i mentioned a long time ago that Drake and Rihanna are the type of artist that have to keep dropping music nonstop because they're shyt is monotonous, hollow and forgettable.
Duke just don't do it for me, Keith Sweat 2.0. I'm more into movie themes and scores, instrumentals, Gamble and Huff productions, Stax Records. Ann Peeples. IF I listen to hip hop it's older music. I've been listening to liquid swords like mad. Adagio for Strings is my shyt.

I don't know. I think if Drake goes the Lil Wayne route and drops music nonstop he's gonna wear out his welcome real soon.

Drake will eventually fall off. It might be years from now, but when it happens how many spins he had or how many records he sold in '08-'15 won't mean a thing. Same thing happened to Nelly, 50 Cent, Wayne....we could go all the way back to Hammer.

Speaking of Wayne, if he can fall off, and he's the guy that put Drake on....I'm kinda confused why you people think Drake will be around forever. Nobody lasts forever and when their run is over nobody cares about how long their run was. This is just how things are, and were before Drake was even born.

:myman: Liquid Swords is one of my favorite albums of all time! :myman: [I was just listening to Shadowboxin this afternoon at the gym]

And trust me...i'm not much of a fan of Drake at all. I started out believing in dude after hearing Successful and gave the first album a try. Didn't really care for much afterwards and began to realize his formula and that he's got sheep for fans. They'd rather hear him make Marvin's Room and The Motto over 14 different times with different beats than to criticize

him for not evolving at all.

It's too late for that...that's exactly what he's done and that's why he's stuck in having to do so because his fans got ADD anyway. That's also the reason why he jumps on people tracks that's already hot...just to keep a buzz afloat til he can put some lazy track out to feed his sheep. That's why I was agreeing with you showing those numbers because you don't just lose a Million fans at your peak useless people are tired of you. And people are getting tired of him....you got white Teen girls calling Drake soft and whiny so you know what's next. lol

Shut up bro. If you're a black man, you're lost. I don't conform with the one drop rule. Do you know it's origins? Nor do I allow a larger society steeped in white supremacy to dictate what black is. Those guys are biracial. You cannot simply deny someone's biological DNA. They are 50 percent white but because, people like you want the white race to remain pure, they are 'black'. Both were birthed and raised by white women. That makes them biracial. Black people should have some pride. We are not slaves anymore. Jim Crow is no longer in existence. Why are you continuing to operate with the same methods of thinking?

Nah its common sense to conscious black people. I see you've been negged into oblivion so your opinions likely hold little weight. Run along

Drake has actually improved a lot and gotten better with time. His last album wasn't as "accessible" as the others and he didn't have the radio singles to do Take Care numbers but he is still very much relevant and not even close to falling off. I have very much faith in his upcoming projects. Listening to a song like "From Time" makes me realize this. It's classic Drake but sounds so much more mature than his old stuff. And the song "Connect" gets HEAVY rotation from me. I think people look too much into his freebies because they do all sound sorta samey but they're still nice. They're just not Drake being typical introspective corny simping Drake. Once that next album comes out with that singing shyt, people will jump back on.

I would say his music is far from soulless it definitely triggers emotion that people of all walks of life can feel. He doesn't really have fake gangsta music, whenever he says something "tough" it's in reference to the rap game the catch a body line that he gets heat for was never literal. Drake has never made a gangsta track. He's not a great singer it's a lot of studio magic which makes it work at the end of the day. But he is a good songwriter in terms of R&B. He's ghostwritten for R&B artists and has R&B songs that objectively speaking are not poorly written.

"I'm hoping Western Union doing currency exchange
Cause my dad called me got me feeling guilty and ashamed
Like how I had a Rolls and when and copped a Range
And he paying for his cigarettes with dollars and some change
Damn and I could only feel his pain cuz in Memphis, Tennessee there's only so much to attain"

"Me being the closest thing to black and guess what rap music I was into
The rest of the kids was sheltered, I never liked to fight but when someone called me nikka I'd punch them I couldn't help it"

I wouldn't call those lines above emotionless. That's legit Drake has just blown up and indulging in fame while his father is living in inner city Memphis struggling economically. Any nikka with divorced parents could feel some shyt like that. That's Drake talking about his nikka wake up call.

Drake don't compare to Nas, KRS or 2Pac that don't make him wack though. Nas thinks Drake is dope, and is actually doing a show with him soon. KRS thinks Drake is hip hop. I've seen him hop on tracks with guys like Jay-Z, Bun B, Andre 3000, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Phonte, Jeezy, Elzhi, Rick Ross, Fabolous, prime Lil Wayne all guys that are dope to me and he has held his own or outrapped them in some cases. To me he's got many flows, his wordplay is above average, he has good introspective songs and does the braggadocios thing well, his voice isn't annoying I've heard far worse. He is superficial though but that can be said about many brag rappers that came before him. You are right about him not being great conceptually. But a wack MC can't write songs like The Calm, The Resistance, The Ride, Too Much they can't pull a double time flow like Drake on HYFR and they can't get the co-signs Drake has gotten.

Drake ain't a tough guy, Diddy sucker punched him it's whatever that's B.S. I'll let TMZ talk about shyt like that. :manny:

I can appreciate that you did a through breakdown, as I said I have heard the music before, but I will revisit the tracks you posted when I can and if it warrants a substantive response whether positive or negative will reply again.

Mm, I'm not sure, I've had a lot of life experience and I don't feel him at all. My people don't really feel him either, 1 of my close friends likes a few of his songs but says he's too soft for him to listen to on the whole. Personally I can't vibe with him at all. I'm not so sure, I think he's fronting a lot within his music, he reminds me of the p*ssy kid that acts tough cause they have their crew around them lol. He seems to have a different attitude when around white people to black people at times too. I don't think he makes gangsta music on a whole, but there's things he says within his songs that are very off putting cause they're just so fake and delivered in a way it sounds fake to me actually coming from that environment and going through that.

Mm, I don't like the fact he isn't a good singer yet sings all the time, the studio shyt they do don't sound good to me either, I can't see why I should compromise listening to him as a singer/rapper when I could bump Lauryn Hill, Bizzy Bone, Z-Ro, Cee Lo, even Wyclef, but a bunch of others who rap and sing on a higher level. I sometimes don't really see genres, just good or bad, to me Drake is bad.

Those bars by themselves aren't impressive to me, they alone (not considering delivery and other vital aspects) aren't terrible but they are nothing amazing or impressive to me either. Same with the other line, it isn't really hitting me. It's just there. Even from an emotional aspect I've heard it done so much better, 2 examples there's a mix raced rapper called Kontext who dealt with it on a song that was really ill and I felt where he was coming from a lot more, Chino XL has also done it and interested me, so has Bizzy Bone actually. Again, I don't feel that, don't wanna get too intimate about my own personal history here but yeah been through a lot of shyt lol but have seen it dealt with so much better.

That's what I have to compare him to cause this is Hip Hop, it's competitive, why am I going to listen to someone sub par if I could spend that time listening to better people?. I don't hold much/any importance to Drake co signs cause as he's big at the moment it could easily be disingenuous, particularly considering who he's backed by, it's highly unlikely many of those people would diss him, they often similar people that bigging up Iggy and she isn't great either. I've never heard KRS big up Drake, I get the impression he doesn't like Drake actually lol. But regardless I personally don't like Drake no matter what anyone else thinks.

Like I said though, cool man, people gonna like what they like, I'm happy to agree to disagree.

To each there own, personally i don't like him!! he was never on to fall off in my opinion!! not 1 album he's done is timeless or good from front to back for that matter, he's got 1 of the worst vocals i've heard, singing is atrocious and to top it all he's a fake mo'fu*ker!! the only time I'd listen is for studying sake and it's hard enough doin that lmao
