It's no better than a Lumberjack match now, since it's basically just confining the wrestlers to the ring. Not much risk taking and there's minimal spots USING the actual cage (for obvious reasons.)
Is just a waste now. After last year seeing how it could actually pigeon hole a storyline, its time it hit the bushes :birdman:

they raised the hell in a cell and made it look extra strong and reinforced:snoop:

it was gully when it was smaller, looked like a normal ass enclosed fence you see at the park, and would bend to people's weight

plus no blood :beli:

This.

The only great HIAC match with the new cell was Taker vs Edge at Summerslam and that was because it was a TLC match inside the cage and because the buildup to that match was done wonderfully (to this day I'm amazed at how every single thing they did in that match made sense in the context of their feud).

When the violence is so toned down and the bumps you can take are so limited, it's very difficult to get hyped about that kind of match.

KOTR would be dope. ive been saying they should bring it back for years now..

plus it could lead to someone having a cool heel turn and adding King to their name....4 years ago i wanted that guy to be (King) Kofi...but now :whoa:

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
I was just thinking about making a poll for Greatest HIAC Match of all time and then I saw this thread. HIAC is one of my favorite gimmick matches of all time. Anyway, here's my Top 3:

1. HBK vs. The Undertaker

The match included everything it needed to include: blood, violence, HBK getting his ass kicked. HBK/Taker has a killer story running through it, with Taker finally getting his revenge on the fukking dikkhole who cost him the world title. He beats HBK so fukking bad that HBK resorts to taking out a cameraman and heading for the door when they come to get the cameraman. And even that doesn't work, as Undertaker beats him up outside the cage forcing HBK to try and escape up, and then Taker follows him up there and CONTINUES to kick his ass, knocks him down through the table as he tries to escape again, and KEEPS COMING like the motherfukking terminator. Kane debuts and costs Taker the match at the end ("THAT'S GOTTA BE KANE! THAT'S GOTTA BE KANE!). HBK was pretty much laying in a pool of his own blood. This match got a ***** from Dave Meltzer which is a rather prestigious honor.

2. WWE Championship Match: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. The Undertaker

WWE can always talking about how their new big man flavor of the month "beat the Undertaker like he has NEVER been beat before", but Brock fukked up 'Taker something fierce in this match. IMO, this is what put Lesnar over the top as a monster and the face of the company, more-so than him beating the Rock (who was getting boo'ed out of the building for the majority of the match). This is what gave Brock his "street cred". Aside from Vince at Survivor Series 03 and Eddy Guerrero at Judgement Day 04 (best blade job EVER, IMO), I don't think anyone has bled like 'Taker bled in this match. After the shot to the head with the stairs, 'Taker gushed blood for the remainder of the match. Now, I won't defend 'Taker, because he didn't sell hardly anything for Brock at the September PPV, but he had his working boots on for this match. He pulled out all of the stops (old school rope walk, chokeslams, and The Last Ride) but it wasn't enough to keep The Next Big Thing down.

3. WWE Championship Match: Batista (c) vs. HHH

The last great HIAC IMO. HHH's last chance at getting the title from Big Dave after losing the title to him at Mania and his unsuccessful rematch at Backlash. You best believe he was going to pull out all stops. Let's face it. Their first two matched SUCKED. But HIAC was simply incredible with the awesome pacing and some great spots including barbwired covered chairshots, a spinebuster on the stairs, HHH taking a sledgehammer to throat (and spitting blood out right after the fact like The Great Muta) and the end with HHH going for the sledgehammer spot he did at X-7 against Taker but being too weak and Batista finishing the powerbomb for the finish. Great match. HHH took some much needed time off after this match.

Honorable Mentions:
"The End of an Era" Match: The Undertaker vs. HHH w/ HBK as the Special Guest Referee @ WM 28
The Undertaker vs. Mankind @ KOTR 98
WWE Championship Match: Batista (c) vs. The Undertaker @ Survivor Series 07

The overuse of gimmick matches in today's wrestling is horrible. Today's generation looks at the HIAC and cage matches as just any other match. Back when we were kids, that shyt meant something special.

Ladder matches too :beli:
