It's like the industry doesn't want to take a risk on those rappers that really lived that life.

And when they do they turn out to be really horrible rappers these days, or really drugged out ones.

It's like they will take o.k rappers groom them and throw that image on them, hire a couple of writers and call it a day.

What yinz think? :ehh:

With the industry not getting as much money as befor thnx to downloads & the shift in the way people consume music & whatnot
it isnt easy to spend money on cats theyre afraid to invest in. This is why we've seen industry wanting artist to do all the self promo & work, and then
they might sign you if they see a market for it & they believe it'll be a success.

See it from a business perspective, would you not be afraid to take risks on investment that could go 50-50?

This is why pop artist are the most pushed ones. They have a look that the general pub will pay attention too & they can
be marketed towards 4 year olds up to about early 20s.

A rapper who supposedly lived it might get on drugs, locked up, sued & will have it hard to gain sponsors & endorsement because
of they might carry themselves &/or the market of audience they have.

We've seen it, whether its a Death Row (as a company), a Beanie Sigel, a DMX, a Lox, a Wu-Tang etc etc etc.

So is it worth it if they'll have to spend more than they eventually earn?

So its a hard decision.

Interesting read, when you think about it.

It's like....would they in this climate be able to push a new 50cent, DMX or Camron.

I see it as they will invest on the image if per say rapper didn't have that criminal past.

So they rather slap that image one a decent rapper without that past and not worry about the risk. Turns out to be shytty acting, but people still eat it up. :francis:

I think more rappers really live that life today than you guys untouchable 90's rappers

excluding a few west coast rappers
Name a few that are at a Drake or Kanye level?

And not the one hit wonders or your local circuit rappers, just interested. :ehh:
