That album been out for like 10 years and I've never gotten through that song.

It's a bad song. It's a bad beat. And the lyrics don't make up for it.
:dwillhuh: it hasn't even been 5 years

Seems you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about in here

J Cole is like Barack Obama both never grew up with their deadbeat Black fathers and thus never had the Black experience being raised by their white mommy's

The song isn't "bad" just underwhelming foe a closing track on your debut album. Previous album had Farewell.

This is terrible.

Lol. I've had that album since day1 and never got through this song.

But thanks for the info

this is song is like some daytime Lifetime movie shyt.
how his this supposed to be a personal song but you sounds about as invested as Luda did in Runaway Love.

i don't like that i keep harping on about how much i'm baffled by how big Cole is because i respect quite a bit of what he does and how he moves outside of his music but.....

First album was a mess.
Yea this thread made me listen to some of it for the first time in years. It's not good on any level: th production is amateurish (wtf @ the drums on Breakdown) and the raps are cookie cutter. Quite a quality drop between FNL and that album. Drake's first album was weak too iirc.

Born Sinner wasn't much better. Production wise it was a step up but it also has multiple songs that leave you wondering wtf happened. I'm not that into 2014 FHD but there's no question it's his best album sonically.

Hard to call someone great when 2 of his first 3 albums aren't good. Cole even admitted to Combat Jack that the first wasn't it, and the second was flawed too.
