Has Scottie Barnes made Pascal Siakam expendable for the Raptors?

Do the Raptors have the freedom to trade Siakam?

Right now hes playing like a legit 2nd...and lets be real on this.1st 2nd or 3rd options can all be max players...Chris Bosh was a max player and 3rd option in Miami.

If you flip Siakam for Vuci Bulls are the favorites in the East and a true title contender...
They would need to keep Vuc. They could trade for Siakam without dealing Vuc.

The package would be...
Coby White
Pat Williams
Derrick Jones Jr
Troy Brown

That's if the Bulls decided to lock into Siakam as the guy that pushes them to being favorites to win it all.

Bulls are ahead of schedule in this rebuild for sure, I don't think they make a big move like that, they still have a lot of belief in Williams and White

Raptors hang up the phone. If you not including Lonzo (and the Bulls not) trade not happening. We donโ€™t want no damn spare parts and bench players. We got OG and Barnes, Pat Williams wonโ€™t have a place on this team and we donโ€™t need White.

Do the Raptors want to stockpile young talent while in a rebuild process or do you want established vets that won't push you to the top of the conference anyway?

Barnes and Williams are close as they both are FSU guys. He's also on a rookie deal for the next 3 years. You get cheap high potential talent, and you can use OG in another trade. That offer isn't trash ... especially for a team in Toronto's position.

Ahhhh, I thought you were saying you wanted Vuc back in a potential trade, and I was like that makes no sense seeing where both franchises are currently.

What position is that tho ? Theyre now 7th and moving up now that theyre healthy.I dont think theyre gonna sell off players if they keep winning and move maybe into the top 5 but if they have injuries or covid issues that decimates the roster again they might think about selling high...

If you're entertaining Siakam trades, I would say they aren't going for it all right now. And I would assume they would be trading Siakam for a haul of young prospects and picks... both of which aren't "win now" additions to a team.

The Bulls would only make a trade for a guy making 30M+ that they feel puts them as favorites while sacrificing their best young prospects right now.

Nah Lowry was 36 Siakam is 27....IF Siakam keeps playing like he is right now they will get a haul for him at the deadline if they decide to go that route....hes not overpaid at this level of production and he has 2 years left under contract, the only question was could he re discover his all nba self and he has...
But that's the Lowry conundrum we are back into if we trade Siakam. It's extremely difficult to trade a $30 million contract.

How do the numbers work while also making both side feel they got equal value. No franchise is giving up there prospects for him and most like will not package the top players.

Im more focused on Van Vleet...hes at the height of how good he will be,i wonder if the Raps are even thinking about that...because in a year, hes gonna opt out and want a max.
We are in a better position with FVV than Siakam.

He's a solid defensive point guard that can shoot making $20 million. He's worth his contract and if need be, we can trade him easily.

If they trade Siakam i assume it will be for mostly picks and prospects it wont be for a guy with years on his contract...Obviously they will have to take back salary but if its on expiring or 1 more year i think theyd do it as long as they liked the prospects...

I am surprised I haven't heard more about Siakam being on the block but in all honestly I think teams are just trying to field teams for games at this point and placed improving the team on the backburner.

But I would think a lot of teams would like to have him on the squad.

I agree Van Vleet is giving you great value right now but do you want to pay him 30 + ? I think those convos need to be had now because he can opt out after next year and he most certainly will....

Its because theyre healthy and winning....if they start losing again and fall out of contention at the deadline youll read more about it...

What do the Raptors expect to get for Siakam, what's the best case scenario?

Here's what I say.

Yes. It makes sense this time. When we had Lowry it made no sense to pay him because Fred was always going to replace him and he was already on Lowry's level.

Now who do we have to replace Fred? Nobody. So we kind of have no option. But if he's demanding over $32million a season, I'd consider alternatives.

What do the Raptors expect to get for Siakam, what's the best case scenario?
shyt, I doubt he's on the trading block.

But I can tell you, we aren't taking any filler like we did with Lowry. It's would have to be loaded with prospects.

Hes reverting back to the guy we saw Oct-Dec 2019...my only issue is the late game anxiety still shows....the missed FTs at the end..
Yup agreed. But in the post game the other day he said heโ€™s been working on his emotions and shyt like that and itโ€™s translating to the rest of his game so hopefully he can work it out at the end of games.

I will say though that heโ€™s playing way less soft these days which is a bit of a revelation.
